Bird & Box Series

Bird & Box Series

Sahabi’s “Birds” collection that has been created using simple tools and accessible objects has radiant colors and oscillates between abstraction and realism. The use of wood, which is a natural material, influences Sahabi’s perception of nature. The artist considers wood a symbol of the visible natural world, and uses it to create and give shape to a world that is not visible, a world that exists in his imagination. By giving form to a formless piece of wood, he seeks a chance to return to nature and primitive art. This attitude towards nature and its dynamism leads to the creation of a world where the main characteristics are emotions, and a subject-oriented and unique approach to the universe. Later in this same collection, and by emphasizing the same characteristics, Sahabi sometimes adds a box in order to limit the frame, or includes extra elements like masks to confront the viewer with the question of human isolation.
